Our desi ghee is Rs 3,000 per kg. It is danedar (grainy) ghee made from the milk of our own farm, the same milk we have sold in Ghalla Mandi since 1970.

How to tell real desi ghee
- Smell. Real desi ghee has a rich, nutty smell when it melts. Fake ghee smells flat or like oil.
- Texture. Good desi ghee sets with small grains (danedar) at room temperature in winter.
- Price. Pure ghee takes a lot of milk to make. If someone sells "desi ghee" for much less than the market rate, it is very likely mixed with vegetable oil or banaspati.
Where to use it
Desi ghee is best for parathas, halwa, daal tarka, sweets and winter dishes like panjiri. A little goes a long way.
Storage
Keep ghee in a clean, dry, airtight jar and always use a dry spoon. Stored this way it lasts for months without a fridge.
